If you’re not familiar with what an affirmation is, an affirmation is a statement that affirms the Truth, with a capital T.
Truth shows up as those things that are changeless, that point to the essence of who you are and what the Divine is. You can feel the presence of Truth when you innately sense joy, connection, openness, possibility and authenticity.
Imagine you were a tuning fork. You are a being of resonance. Truth resonates with the interior of your being, and you can feel its subtle (and sometimes not-so-subtle) vibrations.
Now, Truth with a capital T says that regardless of what circumstances might look like, there is an underlying spiritual Truth that exists.
For example, say it’s raining outside and the sky and clouds are dark and gray. A Truth is that behind the dark clouds, the sun still shines brightly.
Taking the metaphor of rain clouds and the sun and applying it to your life, an affirmation could be:
“Regardless of what I might be experiencing now, the sun is always shining in my life.”
The power of the affirmation comes from your willingness and openness to allow the Truth to reveal itself in your life.
In this sense, an affirmation is not passive. When you affirm Truth, you pro-actively invite a greater awareness and expression of Good available for your Life.
With that, here are 7 inspirational summer affirmations that you can use to bring a greater awareness and intentionality to this season:
- My summer is an expression of joy and aliveness.
- I open to new opportunities for good to show up in my life.
- I appreciate all the ways the world nourishes me and the ways I nourish the world.
- I live from a place of abundance, and I express abundance in my health, my wealth, my relationships and my creative expressions.
- My body is rested, renewed and restored, and my being exudes a greater feeling of wholeness and vibrancy.
- Peace is the essence of who I am, and I allow this peace to wash over me.
- Delightful possibilities unfold in my life everyday in every way.
How can you use affirmations in your everyday life?
One way you can use affirmations as a spiritual practice is to choose one affirmation a day that you repeat to yourself at different times throughout the day. When you choose an affirmation, you can sit for a few minutes saying the affirmation to yourself over and over again.
Another method is to write your affirmations on post-it notes and then post them in places that you can see. For example, you can post an affirmation on your bathroom mirror, on your computer screen, or digitally post it on the screen of your smartphone or computer.
The purpose of affirmations is to help remind you of the Truth that always exists, especially when life’s circumstances might be bringing you down.
If you find yourself caught in a storm of despair, negativity or doubt, an affirmation helps to keep you grounded and steady. An affirmation can be your go-to spiritual tool when the going gets tough.
It’s okay to feel what you’re feeling and, at the same time, you can also know a deeper Truth that can help to keep you tethered to your greater sense of Self.
And by all means, come up with your own affirmations! They’re much more powerful when they are imbued with the color and vibrancy of your own essence.
