Your vision lives and breathes inside you. Are you ready to express it?

In the last few months, I've been moving away from asking clients the question, "What do you want?"

For some reason, the word "want" brings up the idea that you want something because you currently don't have it. In this sense, "want" is another word for "lack."

In my own spiritual understanding and teaching, I believe that the nature of who you are is never lacking. That's because the One immense Presence that is All that there is, is everywhere present. The essence of this Divine Nature is abundance itself, joy, peace, love and all things good. Because this Oneness is everywhere present, that means that you are One in it. And all that this Divine Goodness is, is the very same essence of who you are.

Rumi says it best: "You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean in a drop."

How different life becomes when you recognize that you are not a separate drop in the ocean, but that you are the magnificence of the entire ocean individualized as you!

Because I wholeheartedly believe in this perspective, I've been finding it difficult to ask clients "What do you want?" because it emphasizes the idea that you need to look outside of yourself in order to feel complete.

The simple truth is that you already are that which you seek!

If you believe that you already are goodness, joy, prosperity, abundance, peace and everything else good, yummy and delicious that you imagine, then the goal isn't to acquire anything else.

Your purpose, then, is to express the depth and the fullness of who you are.

You are unique in your own individualized way. That's why you have the tastes in food and clothes you do. That's why you feel more affinity and flow with certain kinds of activities.

Why is it that some people are better at technology than others? Or some people love cooking and others don't? It's because the Divine has an infinite number of ways that expresses its joy, and not everyone express it in the same way.

So the question moves away from "What do you want?" Instead, the question becomes: "What is seeking to express in and as you, as the divine being that you already are?"

Instead of waking up in the morning with the question, "What do you want to do today?", another question to ask is, "In what ways is your inner joy leading you?"

You see, your vision for your life lives and breathes inside of you. It's not "out there" somewhere to acquire.

The exercise, then, is to listen deeply.

Your coaching assignment for this week is a simple one.  Simply ask yourself:
  • How are you being called today to express the joy that you are more fully in your life?

Let go of the need to quench the thirst of wanting. Today, listen with your entire being to how you are being called to express your magnificence. With that inkling of inspiration, your job is to be it and do it.

I'd love to hear about what you think about this idea of letting go of the word "want." It's a spiritual concept I'm moving into, and I'd love to get your perspectives. Please leave a comment below.

Abundant Blessings.
