![]() Last week I was in San Francisco attending the Wisdompreneurs conference, a gathering of entrepreneurs whose missions are to have a positive social impact in the world. In one of the breakout sessions, someone shared a helpful tool he uses to access his inner guidance when he sets out to make a plan. He calls it: Stop, Continue, Start. When you want to plan your day, week, month or year, all you do is ask yourself these three questions:
These questions are simple. That’s one of the reasons they are powerful. Stop asks you to look at what's not serving you in your life. Here are some examples: You can stop negative self-talk. You can stop hiding your gifts and talents. You can stop agreeing to doing things that make you miserable. Continue encourages you to keep on going with those habits and behaviors that bring you joy, fulfillment and purpose. You already started making changes and momentum needs to build. To continue something is to bring a greater commitment to your intention. Start invites you to try something new. What has been on your heart to explore? What creative ideas and endeavors pique your interests? New-ness brings a vitality and fresh-ness to life. This doesn't have to be a big thing. You can choose something do-able and fun! Here’s an example of how I would apply this in my life. These days I’m becoming more conscious of my health where I’m transforming how I eat and how I'm moving my body. Here’s how I would answer these guiding questions.
Asking myself these questions gives me guidance and direction to improve my health. Let’s see how you can apply these questions to your life. If you're willing, here’s your coaching assignment for the week:
At the heart of these questions are the spiritual practices of inner guidance, awareness and choice. These questions invite you to be in tune with your heart and soul, to be more aware of your thoughts and behaviors, and to see if they are supporting you or not. You then are at choice. You get to stop doing something if it doesn’t serve you, you get to continue what supports you, and you get to start whatever might be calling you. Are you willing to listen to your heart and receive the guidance that already lives within you? I’d love to hear what comes up for you when you ask yourself these questions. Feel free to leave a comment below. And if you need support in answering these questions or moving into action, let me know and we can set up a free clarity session.
