Earlier today, I was with a group of people where someone asked the question: What are some of the biggest obstacles to money and wealth? Most of the responses included thoughts and feelings of:
A few people mentioned things like not having a spending plan or not being clear where their money goes. But overall, the "mindset" issues and beliefs about not being deserving came up as the over-riding challenge. These kinds of thoughts come up often when I work with clients who want to get clarity on what might be holding them back from their goals. (By the way, you can click here if you want to schedule a complimentary life coaching consultation.) One of the ways to overcome these mindset obstacles is to instead come up with a set of beliefs that affirm the kind of life and world you desire. For this week's message, I thought I'd share with you a powerful prayer from Louise Hay from her classic book, You Can Heal Your Life, where she offers the idea that you do indeed deserve a prosperous life.
When you read this prayer, do you feel a greater sense of expansion and possibility? Or are there parts of this prayer where you feel tension? Feeling tension can be a good thing because it shows you where your beliefs might be in conflict.
What this prayer offers is an exercise in choosing prosperity as a way of living in the world. Is it possible that there's a greater good available for you in the world? I believe the answer is yes. Do I believe that you deserve to experience more good than you ever imagined possible? Yes, you do. And is it my intention that by increasing your good, you then can be in a position to share more of your good with the world? Absolutely. For your coaching assignment this week, I encourage you to print out this prayer or look at it on your smartphone or table. Read this when you begin your day and when you end your day. Saying it out loud is even more powerful. See if you can commit to doing this practice everyday for the next 7 days. Be open to seeing what unexpected good and possibilities show up in your life. (This could include things like someone offering to buy you a cup of coffee, or someone paying you a compliment.) I'd love to hear if any of this resonates with you. What other spiritual practices or mantras do you use to affirm a prosperous spiritual life? Post a comment below to share with others. Let us also know what ways your good shows up this week in your life. Here's to your deserving the best that life has to offer...simply for being who you are, exactly as you are. p.s. I'll be starting an 8-week online class this coming October 2017 that is a beta test of my program Re-Write Your Money Story. Feel free to send me an email if you want to be kept in the loop about this. |
