![]() I love September. Not only is it my birthday month (yay!), but it’s also a time of changes. Summer switches to Fall. Labor Day signals a collective back to school and work mentality. Halloween decorations and candy begin to emerge. Change usually brings up a host of emotions, some happy, some sad, and some both at the same time. The range of emotions can be surprising because they might seem conflicting. For example, someone starting a new job might feel happy to start a new endeavor, but may be feeling a vague sadness that seems to arise from nowhere. It’s important to understand that when any change happens, there are two distinct processes actually happening. One process is the ending of a chapter, and the other process is the beginning of new possibilities. The reason why different emotions and feelings arise is because there’s a conflation, meaning the two different processes are brought together as one. If you’re experiencing change and you’re feeling a range of emotions, it’s important to separate these different processes and acknowledge them accordingly. Here are a few questions you can ask to help you embrace this change more fully:
You can answer these questions in your journal. You can choose one word that symbolizes the ending and one word that symbolizes the beginning, and you can write these words on some autumn leaves and set them upon water somewhere to float into the stream of life. You can share what’s on your heart with someone close. Marking the changes with some kind of ritual or celebration provides a container to openly recognize these changes. Also, being in a community of love and support is especially helpful when navigating changes. Changes can be scary, but they can also be liberating. The spiritual practice here is to face changes with an open heart. Remember: You are a being with the capacity for infinite possibility and potentiality. I stopped and really looked at him. His energy felt radiant. “When I made my vision board at your workshop a few months ago, I made the decision that day to get my health on track. I was tired of how I looked and felt. So I put a picture of a fit body on my vision board and I’ve focused on that as my intention over these last few months. Now look at me. I feel great!” Wow. As we talked further, he shared how much this change not only showed up in his body. This shift also improved his dating life and his overall confidence in himself. Having this focus and dedicated commitment transformed his life. Double Wow. The even more wonderful gift is that his story is not rare. I’ve now had hundreds of people attend my vision board workshop throughout the years. I regularly get emails and messages from people who’ve told me the amazing things they experienced after making their vision boards. You see, there’s power in clarity, in allowing an opening for you to hear what your heart wants to experience and express. Making your own vision board is a sacred process. You ask your heart to be your guide. You open to different possibilities for your life and for the world. You say yes to how you are being called forth. And as you say yes, you expand your vibrational energy, which is especially attractive. Saying yes to your heart creates a gravitational pull, that brings in people, ideas, resources and situations that support your expansive energy. This is attraction in action. Are you ready to expand your vibrational energy and attract? For your coaching assignment this week, here’s one simple question I offer to you:
Whatever the answer might be, be open. If you feel a yearning in your heart, that just might be your vision pulling you forward, waiting for you to simply say yes. I’d love to hear your thoughts about today’s post. Please feel free to leave a comment below. Abundant Blessings and Namaste. ![]() ** Special Note ** If you’ve been wanting to create your own vision board, I am holding a Vision Board workshop this Saturday September 10 in Los Angeles (latest update: this workshop is now sold out), and hosting a Life Visioning and Vision Board Half-Day Retreat on Saturday October 1st in the San Francisco Bay Area. Oprah is always chock full of wisdom. Just to double-check, though, I found out this quote is credited to Seneca the Younger, a Roman philosopher born in 4 B.C.E. Okay, not Oprah. Let’s call it Ancient Wisdom brought back into New Thought. What this quote uncovers is that many times, people say someone is “lucky” if they have a great job, enjoy a wonderful relationship, go on amazing vacations, or get into a good school. Seneca implies, not so fast there. What often go unrecognized are the behind-the-scenes preparation and the overcoming of resistance that continues to show up. Look at Queen Bey, aka Beyonce, and the years of dedicated practice she put in since childhood, day in and day out, year after year. Did she get to where she is from good luck? Or did she take the Seneca route and prepare herself for those opportune moments that got her to where she is today? So how do you prepare? The first step in preparation is getting clear on where you want to go. The second step is being willing to change up how you usually live your life. Same results = same thinking. Different results = different thinking. If you're looking for a change in your life, you need to be willing to take a different path than you’re used to. When I lead my Vision Board workshops, participants don't only paste pictures and images of a life they love. They also step back and ask themselves this powerful question. Who are you called to be in order for this vision to manifest? When you have a powerful vision inside you that wants to emerge, it means that you are being called to embrace a bigger you that allows you to reveal this vision. Years ago I had many participants posting pictures of Oprah Winfrey on their Vision Boards because they imagined themselves as being interviewed by Oprah on her daytime show. I asked them, “If Oprah invited you to be on her show today, would you be ready?” Sheepishly, most said, “No.” Even though you might not be ready in this very moment, you can take mental and actionable steps to prepare you. As you consider something greater in the horizon of your dreams, I offer you this coaching assignment for this week:
Here’s the last thing, and it’s about the "opportunity" that Seneca mentions. There’s a saying that opportunity knocks only once. I don’t believe that. I believe that opportunity is knocking on your door all the time. All it takes is for you to be prepared and to answer the door. Are you ready? I’d love to hear your thoughts about this blog post. Please leave a comment and share below. Abundant Blessings and Namaste. ***Special Note: If you’d like to get more clear on what your emerging vision is and you'd like to have something you can look at everyday, click here to find out more and register for my upcoming Vision Board workshops: ![]() Joselito Laudencia helps people bridge the spiritual and practical path to career and financial freedom.
